On April 30 and May 1, we receive, as every year, a group of customers from New York and New Jersey to show them the winery, the vineyard and taste some of our wines made in Ribera del Duero, Toro, as well as Verdejo fermented in barrels from Denomination of Origin Rueda.
Nexus Kosher is a very successful reference in New York and New Jersey, because it reflects the younger, fresher and fruity of Ribera del Duero. A classic among our American customers.
About Nexus One 2016, the visitors agreed that it is a very drinkable wine, as well as a gastronomic one, as it pairs perfectly with any dishes, from the appetizer to grilled meats or fish in sauce.
Nexus Crianza 2014, meanwhile, showed a more ‘made‘ wine, with full-bodied and aromas of black fruits, balsamic, licorice and scrubland. In this case, an appropriate wine to accompany a meal.
We compared Nexus Crianza with the new wine Pisarrosas, of identical vintage, 2014. Although both are 100% Tempranillo, the difference between one and the other is the origin of the grape. In the case of Pisarrosas, the plot of the same name is located at approximately 950 meters, one of the highest areas of the Ribera del Duero.
The last wine of the brand was Nexus Plus, from the 2011 vintage, one that liked the most. With the months of aging in bottle, the wine has been rounded off and won in elegance and subtlety, showing all its potential and with a long life ahead. The pity is that only 5,000 bottles are produced!
The day ended with a meal in the winery, based on typical gastronomy of the area: Spanish, Iberian ham, white asparagus from Tudela de Duero, lamb at Traspinedos’ style, bread from Valladolid and sweets.
It is always a pleasure to check the evolution that we had our wines during the time of aging in barrels, so we started by tasting three wines directly from them.
The barrels used in Nexus are French oak, specifically from the Allier area, where the highest quality wood is found.
On behalf of the entire Bodegas Nexus Frontaura team, we would like to thank all our clients for such a pleasant day and especially our collaborator, Juan, for the organization of this tour.
